The next FDM-Werkstatt will take place from 23–25 March 2026 at Heinrich Heine University Düsseldorf. This community-shaped workshop format brings together data stewards and other research data management professionals to collaboratively develop, test, and refine tools, software solutions, and workflows. The event provides an interactive environment to explore new use cases, identify challenges, and work jointly on solutions.
The content of the FDM-Werkstatt is created by the community: all participants are invited to contribute their own ideas and lead a hands-on session. Each session includes a short presentation (approx. 40 minutes) followed by a guided interactive phase and may last up to three hours in total.
Ways to Contribute
There are two options to actively participate in the programme:
- Lead your own session:
Submit an abstract (max. 255 words) including the title, a brief project description, the maximum number of participants, and any requirements (e.g. prior knowledge, account access, device configuration). - Propose an idea:
If you have a topic in mind but cannot fill a full session yourself, simply include this in your submission. The organising team will help identify suitable co-facilitators.
Please note: Only hands-on sessions that fit the interactive format of the FDM-Werkstatt can be considered.
Timeline & Process
- Abstract submission deadline: 16 January 2026
- Mandatory online preparation meeting for accepted contributors: 3 February 2026, 4 PM (Zoom)
- After the submission deadline, the organising team will review all abstracts and inform contributors about acceptance.
Participation in the FDM-Werkstatt requires a separate registration, even if your abstract is accepted (limited places). Further information will follow.
