Projects & collaborations

Research data management is not done in isolation. In addition to our core services like consulting on all questions regarding research data management and IT services, we also communicate and collaborate with partners within HHU and beyond. On the one hand this allows us to further develop our services, on the other hand it allows us to provide custom solutions for larger projects. This page contains an overview of some of our collaborations.

Cooperations within HHU

Cooperation Digital Humanites

The research data competence centre regularly meets with the digital humanities coordinator of the philosophical faculty. This collaboration focuses on staying up to date with latest digital research methods in humanities, as well as working towards better supporting these disciplines.

Electronic lab notebooks in teaching

To train young researchers to routinely use electronic lab notebooks, this tool was established in teaching as part of a collaboration with the neurobiology research group of Prof. Christine Rose and Karl Kafitz. During this collaboration an instance of eLabFTW solely dedicated to teaching, available to all of HHU, was established.

Spoken Morphology

In collaboration with the spoken morphology research group (investigation of morphologically complex cords in English, German and Maltese) dedicated infrastructure to host data was established. After the project’s end, data was moved for long-term storage to the internal repository ResearchArchive.

Digital edition Max-Hermann-Neiße

A digital edition was developed during a research project by the group of Prof. Schönborn and the Trier Centre for Digital Humanities, as well as the framework FUD. The digital edition holds essays and critiques of the author published from 1909 to 1939. The edition is hosted and supported by the research data management competence centre for the long-term.

Cooperations beyond HHU

Participation in fdm.nrw

The research data management competence center participates in the state-wide project fdm.nrw. As part of this project, members of universities in North-Rhine-Westphalia (and sometimes from all of Germany) regularly discuss current topics and trends in research data management. Further, there are special interest groups for targeted, on-topic, collaboration.

Participation in DINI/nestor

The team of research data management competence centre is part of the speakers’ group on research data at DINI-nestor. This is a nationwide project.

Exchange with NFDI

NFDI is the national research data infrastructure. Part of this group are numerous discipline-specific consortia that focus on developing suitable solutions for research data management in their domains. We regularly discuss latest developments with researchers of HHU who participate in NFDI.

FoDaKo (concluded)

As part of FoDaKo universities of Düsseldorf, Wuppertal and Siegen collaborated on research data management. During this collaboration, solutions for long-term storage and archival of data were established. After the conclusion of the project, members of the involved universities regularly meet informally to discuss current topics in research data management.
