About the RDMC

Welcome to the FDM Competence Centre – FDM Kompetenzzentrum – the go-to place for all researchers at HHU when it comes to research data management! We are here to support you throughout the entire life cycle of your research data, whether that means applying for third-party funding, creating data management plans, or working with metadata and FDM tools.

Our platforms are ready to help you make the most of research data management, and if you need technical support, we're there for you too. And best of all: we offer training and courses on a range of FDM topics, both in person and online, tailored to different target groups.

We don't work alone – we team up closely with the University and State Library, the Department of Research and Transfer, and the Centre for Information and Media Technology. Together, we pool our expertise and resources to support you as effectively as possible.

In further developing its research data management, HHU is guided by the central principle: "Shaping FDM together and according to need." To this end, the FDM Forum, as a key element of the governance structure, brings together stakeholders from research, central institutions, and university leadership on an equal footing. Through exchange and discussion, this is intended to bring the diverse perspectives and needs into the joint shaping of research data management.

The FDM Forum thus connects the strategic perspective with experience from research practice and the expertise of the supporting institutions. The FDM Forum provides a space to make needs visible, discuss challenges, and give impetus for the further development of services and structures.

The following groups are explicitly invited to participate in the FDM Forum:

• Rectorate:
  • Vice President for Digitalisation and Scientific Infrastructure,
  • Vice President for Research and Transfer,
• FDMK: Daniela Hausen and Bert Zulauf
• ULB, ZIM, and D4:
  • Department of Research and Transfer,
  • Director of the University and State Library,
  • Director of the Centre for Information and Media Technology
• Faculties: one representative each, appointed by the respective dean
• Larger research consortia, such as Collaborative Research Centres and Clusters of Excellence: representatives appointed by the respective spokespersons
• Data Stewards: one representative
• National Research Data Infrastructure (NFDI): one person with NFDI expertise
• Core Facilities: two representatives

The FDM Forum is open to further guests who can enrich the exchange with additional perspectives and expertise.
